Ernie Clark. Hilperton Division, Wiltshire Council.

Given a choice, Independent is the way to go!

The Southwick Division by-election for Wiltshire Council was won convincingly by the Independent candidate, Francis Morland.

In his web-post yesterday, Trevor Carbin (the Lib Dem group leader at WC) claimed that the by-election was a two horse race between the Lib. Dem. and Conservative candidates. Wrong again! The electors proved Cllr. Carbin to be living in a weird world, seemingly detached from reality.

Cllr. Morland joins the ever-growing number of Independent councillors in Wiltshire. I was happy to endorse, and assist with, his campaign and I am sure that he will do an excellent job representing Southwick Division.

I hope that more people in the county will come to realise the value of having an Independent councillor representing them. We carry no political baggage and speak, and act, for those who elected us - not some lofty party aspiration that 'whips in' when they require un-thinking support.
