Have your say on Wiltshire's Fire & Rescue plans ...
As announced at the recent Trowbridge Area Board meeting, Wiltshire Fire & Rescue Service is asking for your views on its plans for the next three years.

The draft "Integrated Risk Management Plan" focuses on twelve aspects of the service and proposes a review of emergency response provision, including where fire stations and appliances are located. The plan talks about making sure that the duty systems allow firefighters the right work/life balance while still protecting the public. It also focuses on educating people about fire and road safety.

Also covered are work with other organisations to reduce hoax calls and arson, to encourage businesses to install automatic sprinkler systems, and to plan for climate change challenges such as flooding and very hot summers.

The formal consultation period ends on Friday December 11.

Deputy Chief Fire Officer Simon Jones said: "During this time, we will be presenting the draft plan throughout the Service area, by attending community meetings across Wiltshire and Swindon. We also want to hold focus groups in November, so we are asking people to register as stakeholders. The draft plan has been developed following intensive staff consultation, which means its direction has come from the people who are already delivering our fire and rescue service within our communities. We now need to know whether what we are proposing is what people want and expect from us."

I always cringe when the phrase 'focus group' is used, but I'm sure this will be a very useful exercise. To comment, or to register as a stakeholder, follow this link.
