General Election Update.
Make sure your vote counts.
The countdown is on to the general election on 6th May and Wiltshire Council is urging everyone to ensure they have the right to vote. The council is running the election to select the 5 MPs that will represent the Wiltshire area.
Tuesday, 20th April, is an important day for potential voters in the county. Anyone wishing to vote via post will need to have registered, along with anyone who wants to make changes to their details on the election register. It will not be possible to apply for postal votes or make changes to existing proxy votes after this day.Postal or Proxy vote?Because of the tight timescales involved, between Tuesday 20th April and the election on 6th May, postal votes may be received after people have gone on holiday. It may therefore be more appropriate for anyone who is going to be away towards the end of this month and before the election to apply for a proxy vote, so that someone can vote on their behalf. People can apply for new proxy votes until 27th April.Know your polling station. The polling stations for Hilperton will be in the usual places; the Tin Church in Horse Road, the village hall in Whaddon Lane and the community centre on Paxcroft Mead.
