What's happening today? Oh yes, an election!

Today's the day to decide.

In case it's escaped your attention, today is General Election day.

The two polling stations for Hilperton are the Tin Church in Horse Road and the village hall in Whaddon Lane. They will be open between 7.00am and 10.00pm. Paxcroft Mead Community Centre is only for 'Trowbridge' residents on Paxcroft; 'Hilperton' residents need to visit the village hall.

Please remember that if you have a postal vote that you haven't sent back, you're NOT too late. Simply take the sealed envelope and, rather than putting it in a post box, take it to a polling station. There, you can hand it in and it will be taken to the count.

The result is expected to be very tight with Hilperton the great un-known to the parties. The result could well be decided by how Hiperton residents vote; please make the effort to get to the polling station and make your mark on the ballot paper.

I will be attending the count at The Olympiad later today/tomorrow morning and it will be interesting to see what the Chippenham constituency result is.

As an Independent I've not been out tramping the streets canvassing; I have that pleasure to come in three years time when all the Wiltshire councillors are up for re-election!

UPDATE. Well, I don't know how it's been at other polling stations, but the village hall has actually seen a queue of people waiting to vote, something that hasn't happened for many years. It could be because two polling stations have been combined or it could be that lots of people want to vote today - let's hope it's the later!
