Work has started on the new pub at Paxcroft Mead.

Hot on the heels of their success at the planning inquiry, Marston's has commenced building work at the local centre.

I must admit that I thought they would wait until the Paxcroft Mead 'extension' had been built and Leap Gate had become a through road.

I was a firm believer that the site should have remained earmarked for a medical use. However, that possibility has now gone so let's look to the future with a positive eye and hope that the business is a success, without taking custom from any other Hilperton pub, and brings added trade to the local centre and the Community Centre.

In the planning application Marston's had to deliver a green transport plan for staff. Let us hope that they will reinforce this by employing as many local (and by that I mean Paxcroft Mead/Hilperton) staff as possible.

With regard to what the pub will be called, can I thank those that have suggested 'The Councillors' Frustration'!! I don't think that will feature on Marston's list but myself and the other local councillors that argued for the medical use would see the funny side ...
