Is there a future for a post office in Hilperton 'village'?
Despite having had three months notice from the retiring post master, it was not until 19 May (just two days before the closure was due to take place) that the Post Office wrote to the parish and district councils formally advising them of the closure!!

The parish council has responded to the letter, with a copy to PostWatch, advising that the post office should be re-opened as a 'rural' office on perhaps two or three mornings a week. The suggestion has been made the village hall may be suitable.

HPC has quoted five reasons for keeping a post office service ranging from the needs of pensioners and those with mobility problems, to environmental issues. The parish council is also in contact with the district council asking their support for our cause.

The more people that comment on this matter the better, so if you wish to support the call for retaining a post office service please write to the following.

Julia Marwood, National Consultation Manager, Post Office Ltd., c/o National Consultation Team, PO Box 2060, Watford WD18 8ZW.

Please also send a copy to Postwatch, 28 Grosvenor Gardens, London SW1W 0TT.

In case your weren't aware, the planning application by Mr Lee to convert the old post office into an 'A3 food and drink to take away' has been refused by WWDC planning officers.
