A few facts about the Hilperton Relief Road.

There seem to be a few unfounded rumours floating around.

From the number of phone calls and emails that I have received, it seems that it might be helpful to clear a few misconceptions.

1. Persimmon does not having planning permission to build houses in the Gap.

2. There is no current planning application to build houses in the Gap.

3. If the preferred option for the Trowbridge area in the Local Development Framework is adopted, all major housing schemes until 2026 will be south of Trowbridge towards West Ashton.

4. The road has/had to be commenced before August 2011. Once commenced it does not have to be finished until Persimmon decides to do so, or Persimmon has built approx. 300 houses on the East of Trowbridge development.

5. I have not been able to get an answer from Persimmon about exactly how much of the road they are intending to build at the moment. Our MP (Duncan Hames) is going to see if he has more success.

6. Once the road is open, it will become the 'B3105' and the current main route through the village will be down-graded. A weight limit will be placed on the 'old' road and traffic calming will be introduced if there is a continuing problem with people using the 'old' road as a rat-run. All parking restrictions will also be re-examined.
