The new proposals are far from generous compared to the old.

Wiltshire Council has announced its revised redundancy pay, redundancy and appointments policies.

The policies are subject to the approval of the Staffing Policy Committee, which meets on Tuesday 12 October to consider the changes to the policies. They are also subject to the outcome of a ballot of its members by GMB.

The basic figures are that volunteers for redundancy will get roughly one years salary or a minimum of £3,000.

Those that are forced to leave the council will get the statutory minimum payment with a lower threshold of £1,500.
