The council is to start charging for dropped-kerb applications.

Disabled people who want to improve access to their property will have to pay £60 to Wiltshire Council for a dropped-kerb application.

In the past the service was free but, from April, all applications for dropped kerbs will attract the charge.

The council says the applications require a considerable amount of staff time to process as the site has to be visited and records checked for any utilities which might be affected.
