Several people have asked recently - here's the answer.

The choosing of road names was something that the parish council was involved in.

A variety of sources were used ranging from crops and bird species that used to be grown/seen on the fields, old tithe names for the fields and past rectors of St. Michael and All Angels Church, Hilperton.

The latter group comprise the following with their year of appointment shown. No church records exist prior to 1299!!

1299 Gerald de Cuzance.

1361 John Edmonde Hanewell.

1425 Godfrey Moyle.

1777 John Montague.

1843 Edward Jones Walmesley.

1955 Robert Corbin.
