Higher car park charges take effect.
Another cost increase by the Conservatives at County Hall.
Significantly higher car parking charges came into effect yesterday. The new car parking policy was agreed by Conservative councillors in February. Any additional revenue generated from the changes will go into protecting bus services. However, the Conservatives have already cut many rural bus services in Wiltshire, including some planned cuts for Hilperton residents. Wiltshire Council says the decision to divert profits from car parking means the reductions will be less severe.Details of the increases to parking charges have been displayed at all car parks over the last couple of weeks and they are available to view on the council's website.
