'Try the Train - Summer Sundays'.
Trans Wilts Rail and First Great Western deserve our support.
In cooperation with First Great Western, Trans Wilts Rail (TWR)is providing “Try the Train Summer Sundays” train services during eight Sundays in July and August. The southern return service will operate between Swindon and Weymouth via Chippenham, Melksham and Trowbridge. The northern service will operate between Westbury and Swindon via Trowbridge and Melksham connecting at Swindon to London. The additional cost of the extra service is being supported by local businesses and tourist organisations.Together with Wessex Association of Chambers of Commerce, TWR have been promoting the provision of a regional rail service in Wiltshire between Swindon and Salisbury. The “Try the Train” initiative demonstrates the use of the existing rail infrastructure to provide an alternative to the car for leisure whilst reinforcing the practicality of the TWR proposals for a regional service to serve local businesses, support economic regeneration and connect communities in Wiltshire. The cost of the TWR Summer Sunday rail service is attractive, for example a family group of 4 adults and 4 children could travel Swindon to Weymouth return for just £35.20 (£4.40 each). The return service will operate on July 17th, 24th, 31st and August 7th, 14th, 21st and 28th.The timetable for Trowbridge is:Depart 8.56. Arrive Weymouth 10.42. Return journey; depart Weymouth 17.56. Arrive Trowbridge 19.36.Or, if you want to go to London:Depart 7.33 (change at Swindon). Arrive London 9.39.
