A good result for 'behind the scenes' co-operation.

As Chairman of the Trowbridge Area Board, I was please to facilitate a meeting to get the pond in Trowbridge park sorted out.

Trowbridge pond is getting a much-needed facelift this week (July 7 and 8) thanks to some innovative partnership working.

Wiltshire Council is coordinating the work which will see Ringway Infrastructure Services Ltd, English Landscapes and Environment Agency all donate their time to the cause. Trowbridge Town Council is also supplying community volunteers to help with the clean up which will take place on July 7 and 8 at the pond in Trowbridge park.

The work will include removing overhanging trees and foliage, washing off graffiti, repairing benches, litter picking, and cleaning all of the rubbish out of the pond.

Tins, cans, bottles and anything else which can be recycled, will be.

Care will be taken to ensure the ecosystem in and around the pond isn’t damaged.

Bill Parks, head of service local highways and streetscene (central) at Wiltshire Council, said: 'It is really pleasing that so many people and organisations are working together to give the pond and the surrounding area a tidy up. Some of the paths around the pond will need to be closed for a couple of days, but the outcome will mean the pond area is much more pleasant.'
