X88 Wednesday service saved.
Wiltshire Council has amended its proposal for the service.
Following a concerted effort by councillors and members of the public, the Wednesday X88 looks to be safe. The original proposal was to withdraw the X88 service which runs between Chitterne, Tilshead, Lavington, Erlestoke, Bratton
& Hilperton to Bath. However, WC received several petitions together with responses from 31 individual users, 4 Parish Councils (including Hilperton), TravelWatch South West, and strong objections from 3 local councillors (myself, Jonathon Seed and Julie Swabey). As a result the service is to be retained, but only on Wednesdays. This is probably a fair compromise and I applaud the Conservative administration for seeing sense and responding to the criticism of their original idea. Now that's a phrase I wasn't expecting to write. It's a pity that more councillors didn't bother to fight for their constituents, but then I guess that's life. You get who you vote for...
