Oh to be a fly on the wall at Wiltshire Council...

The question must be 'Did Mr. Kerr do something to upset Jane Scott'?

In a rather surprising turn of events, it would seem that the Chief Executive of Wiltshire Council, appointed only a year or so ago, might be 'released' from his contract.

The WC press office states that '...to reduce the senior management costs by a further £500,000 (£8 million has already been saved following a reduction of 220 managers earlier this year). This further reduction will include the proposed deletion of the chief executive post, the proposed deletion of one corporate director post to reduce the number of corporate directors to three.'

As welcome as this further cost cutting exercise is, it seems an odd route for the administration to take. Whilst the 'spin' will continue, it would be interesting to know the background to this decision.
