Ernie Clark. Hilperton Division, Wiltshire Council.

The Lib Dems at B&NES council have passed a problem to Wiltshire.

The Lib Dem Cabinet at Bath and North East Somerset council has agreed to a trial period for a weight limit on lorries through the city.

Wiltshire Council has pledged to fight against the weight limit (which seems to fly in the face of EU rules) but the trial period has been agreed.

Hopefully, the HGVs will use the M4 and A350 rather than cutting through Staverton and Hilperton, but who knows?

I will be asking for careful traffic monitoring for Hilperton both before and during the trial period in order that any increase in HGV traffic can be proved if B&NES attempts to make the ban permanent.
