SID stands for Speed Indicator Device.

Metro count results indicate the road is eligible for a SID.

The result of the survey was as follows:-

Metro Count Speed Survey Result – B3105 Trowbridge Road, Hilperton (30mph Speed Limit).

The survey was carried out between 20/09/2011 and 29/09/2011. A total of 36098 vehicles were checked.

The 85th percentile was 39.8mph (the 85th percentile is the speed at which 85% of the traffic is travelling at or below).

The thresholds for interventions in a 30mph speed limit are; 30 to 34.9mph 85th percentile = No Further Action. 35 to 38.9 mph 85th percentile = eligible for Community Speed Watch. 39 to 42 mph 85th percentile = eligible for the Speed Indicator Device programme.

From these figures we can conclude that 15% of the vehicles using Trowbridge Road travel at 40mph or over.
