So, the Diamond Jubilee is now over.
Four days of celebration have drawn to a close.
Hilperton's contribution to the weekend on Saturday at the village hall/playing field was a resounding success. It was hard to estimate the total attendance but it must have been in four figures - one of the best turnouts for many, many years. It would be impossible to mention everyone who was involved but special thanks should go to Sonja Kotevska (who was the main organiser), Rob House & Clive Bates (for organising the cricket) and Ian Cradock & Paul Staddon (for organising the childrens' races, tractor pulling etc.)In addition to the many attractions there was also the small army of volunteers who 'manned' the tea counter and the bar - thanks to all of you for a day that wil linger long in the memory of all that were there. In addition, the new play area was officially opened and, at a later date, the Parish Council will be planting an oak tree to remind villagers of the event for the next hundred years or so!!The end of the weekend celebrations was marked with a quarter peal by the bell ringers at St. Michael's church in The Knapp.
