Goodbye, Bradley Road....

The Bradley Road office of ex-West Wiltshire District Council closed on Friday.

Wiltshire Council has closed the buildings which are likely to be demolished and the site sold to a property developer. Or could it be the site of the new Trowbridge community campus?

The ex-Kennet District Council offices in Devizes also closed recently, as did Urchfont Manor, which was used mainly for adult education and conferences.

WC states that the sales will save £750k per annum in running costs and provide a 'capital receipt'.

The plan to effectively 'asset-strip' the various district councils was part of the process of moving to the unitary council. However, the collapse in property prices over the last four years means the returns are likely to be less than anticipated in the pre-WC 'master plan'.
