The market will start this Wednesday.

The centre of Wiltshire’s county town will be alive with the sounds of traders selling their wares from as a new outdoor market is launched.

The outdoor market in Trowbridge will be open every Wednesday with a wide range of both local produce, crafts and consumer goods.

The 30 plus stalls will be set up in the heart of the town stretching across the whole of Fore Street. The launch comes after widespread consultation by Wiltshire Council with traders and locals on whether a market would be viable for the town. Traders at the Castle Place Indoor Market were fully supportive of the move.

Local businesses hope hosting the stall in Fore Street, will bring some vibrant colour and increase interest in the area. The market will be open for the first time on March 27.

Nick White of ABC Cheeses will be one of the new traders. He said: 'It's about time Trowbridge had its own regular open air market. I'm looking forward to being a part of this.'

Wiltshire Council is organising the stalls in partnership with Trowbridge Town Team who have support from Trowbridge Town Council to showcase local produce.

The last time Trowbridge had an open air market was at the end of the 19th century which was also based in Fore Street.

The new market has received help with its set-up costs from the Trowbridge Area Board grant scheme.
