Has your car got a valid road fund licence?

Wiltshire Council is to take on the responsibility for removing abandoned vehicles.

This duty is currently under the control of the DVLA, but local councils can take on legal powers and remove vehicles themselves.

Untaxed vehicles on the public highway or on council land will be clamped or removed. At this stage the owner can reclaim their car on payment of a fee.

Unclaimed cars will normally be scrapped, although higher value cars could be sold. The council keeps any cash and could make a profit on the scheme of about £10,000 per year.

Currently, the DVLA removes about 300 abandoned cars a year from Wiltshire's roads.
