Based in Trowbridge this Thursday.

Young people across the county can have a go at being a radio station producer, making jewellery, designing t-shirts and event planning for a skate park at the Have a Go Skills event in Trowbridge on March 14th.

Held at Trowbridge Civic Centre from 10am to 6pm, the event will offer Year 10 to 13 students, and other young people aged up 24 years, the chance to try out different jobs and get help and advice of future careers.

Those attending will also have the chance to take part in CV writing and interview skills support seminars (10am to 12 noon and 2pm to 4pm), and apprentice/employer speed dating (12 noon to 2pm).

The event has been organised to coincide with National Apprenticeship Week (March 11-15) and the local businesses and organisations involved will have stands and bite-sized tasters of the skills needed for that particular trade.

RampNation will be there asking young people to design a marketing plan and launch event for their new skatepark. If they like the idea, they will ask the young people to work on their plan with them. They are also looking for a new desgin for their t-shirts and a competition will be running with the winning entry used in the park.

Wiltshire College will be there giving young people a chance to try their hand at hairdressing and styling, JTL will be asking attendees to help wire a lighting rig for a concert and Spire FM will be handing over their mixing desk for the day giving people a chance to have a go at producing a radio show.
