Summer drink drive roadshows .

Would you fail a breath test 'the morning after the night before'?

This summer’s drink drive crackdown in Wiltshire will be launched on Saturday with the first of a series of roadshows around the county.

People visiting the roadshows will be able to see the remains of a car actually involved in a crash, and there will be a chance to speak to people who have been affected by fatal crashes.

Wiltshire Council, Wiltshire Police and Wiltshire Fire & Rescue Service will also be there to educate people on how even a small amount of alcohol can impair judgement and the ability to drive safely.

Nearly one in five people who are convicted of drink driving are caught the morning after and many do not realise they can still lose their licence if they are over the legal alcohol level.

As a result, people who have a drink this summer are being encouraged to leave their cars at home.

Anyone who has been out drinking may still be affected by alcohol the next day. Sleeping, eating, having a shower, drinking a cup of coffee or other ways of 'sobering up' will not help – it just takes time.

The events will all run from 10am until 2pm:

• Trowbridge, Fore Street on Saturday, June 1

• Devizes, Market Place on Saturday, June 8

• Tidworth, Tidworth Park on Saturday, June 15

• Chippenham, Town Bridge Saturday, June 29
