West Ashton Road update.
Essential road works start Monday 10th.
Essential road works associated with development are due to take place on the West Ashton crossroads. The works involve the construction of a left turn filter lane into West Ashton Road on the approach to the junction from the Yarnbrook direction, and improvements to the permanent set of traffic signals. It is anticipated that the works will take 12 weeks to complete commencing on Monday 10th June. The works will take place in two phases.Phase 1 – 5 week duration. Start date 10th June.Phase 1 of the works will involve the construction of the left turn filter, together with some street lighting changes that can be incorporated within the scope of works. To enable these works to be carried out without impacting on the traffic flow through the junction, the right turn filter lane into Bratten Road will be narrowed to 2.5m by burning off the existing white lines and re-marking the lane width. These works are to be carried out under mobile working techniques during off peak times. The east bound ahead lane will be maintained at the existing width with 4-5 lane markings being burnt off and remarked to achieve a new alignment. This will allow the new left turn filter lane to be constructed off carriageway using plastic jersey barriers to protect the works area.An advisory 30mph speed limit will be in place throughout the duration of the works.
