Will councillors be spamed with pornography?

Wiltshire Council staff and councillors have been warned to watch out for a spate of porno emails as hackers fight back against government plans to regulate the ether.

WC advises that 'Following government plans to introduce legislation compelling internet service providers to block pornographic content by default, we have been advised that a hacking group will start a campaign to flood government and local authority email addresses with mail containing pornographic images. This campaign will start Monday at midday.

While our (WC) email filters will stop most of the emails, please take care when opening mail from senders you do not recognise as they may contain offensive images. If you think your email is spam please delete it without opening it.

There is the possibility the email system may be slow or unavailable while this is occurring, as the hackers' intention is to overwhelm the email systems by sending large volumes of emails.'

As I post this I have not received any porno emails. If I do I will let you know...
