Pay-to-stay set at £60k.
High earning social tenants will have to disclose their income.
The governemnt will enshrine in law that the onus is on tenants who earn above the threshold to reveal their earnings. This is 'to ensure they are making a fairer contribution'.The £60k is the lower of the three limits which was in the consultation which ran in June and July last year. Those that earn over the limit will pay 'market' rent rather than 'affordable' rent if their social landlord adopts the scheme. It will be interesting to see which of our local social landlords (such as Selwood Housing) adopt the scheme.
