It was agreed at an extraordinary full council meeting.

At the meeting councillors agreed the business plan and priorities for the next four years.

These priorities will help to deliver the vision 'to create stronger and more resilient communities and make Wiltshire an even better place to live, work and visit'.

A side effect will be to see parish/town council precepts increase. This is due to the fact that Wiltshire Council will withdraw its 'Parish Council Local Tax Support' scheme from the 2015-16 financial year (2014-15 cost £1.498m).

This is a scheme introduced last year when the Conservative government introduced a change to the Council Tax system that could have had serious consequences for many parish/town councils.

As a result, it is likely that councils will have to have regard to this loss of financial support when setting their 2014-15 precept.
