More money for our roads?
The WC Cabinet meets today in Salisbury.
One of the items on the agenda is 'Investing in Highways'.Three options will be considered.Option 1 is to maintain the status quo and would maintain our roads in their existing condition.Option 2 would increase spend from £12.5 million to £17 million for six years. This would result in a moderate improvement to the system.Option 3 would be to spend £21 million a year for six years to get a significant improvement to road conditions. The Conservative administration is aware that there are low levels of public satisfaction with road conditions and, in consultations on budget setting, expenditure on raod maintenance is a service where the public wish to see more spentAccordingly, the recommendation is that Option 3 be agreed.
