'Green energy' campaigners are celebrating.

'Green energy' campaigners are celebrating after an inspector ordered Wiltshire Council to delete its policy on wind farms from the Core Strategy.

The council had planned to impose a minimum separation distance between housing and new wind developments, which would essentially prevent any from being built in the county.

However, planning inspector Andrew Seaman ordered this policy be removed from the document.

The Wiltshire Clean Air Alliance, which campaigns for renewable energy in the county, has opposed the plans since they were introduced in 2012.

The next battle will presumaly be to stop the ceaseless spread of 'solar farms' across Wiltshire. There seems to be a new planning application every week and concern is being voiced that there is simply too many of them planned for this area.

Of course, we, the consumer, end up paying for the profit that drops into the developers pockets.
