Camilla to officially open Wiltshire's revamped County Hall.

The Duchess of Cornwall will formally open Wiltshire Council’s award-winning refurbished County Hall when she visits Trowbridge on June 23.

Camilla will spend an hour touring County Hall, before unveiling a plaque in the Atrium to commemorate her visit and to officially open the refurbished building.

During the tour, she will meet Wiltshire Council staff, view the open plan working and community environment and take part in a children’s rhymetime session in the new Trowbridge Library.

As leader of the Independent Group of councillors I have been invited to attend the event and be 'presented' to HRH. However, I feel that the scale of the event, paid for by our council tax, is too 'over the top' and so have declined.

It will be interesting to see whether the leaders of the Lib Dems and Labour groups at County Hall have any principles regarding how council tax is 'spent' and whether they attend or not.

The fact that the leader of the Conservatives will be there is a gimme.
