Some local roads near the line are already temporarily closed.

Network Rail has announced that work will be undertaken during the summer of 2015 around Box and Bath to enable the electrification of the Great Western line from Paddington.

This will cause 6 weeks of disruption for rail users, with bus replacement services and reduced timetables for trains from Bath, Bradford, Trowbridge, Westbury, Warminster, Chippenham and Melksham.

Through routes that use these stations will also be affected such as trains travelling through Salisbury from the South Coast to Bristol and Cardiff.
