Your Independent councillor for Hilperton.

Wiltshire Council news from Ernie Clark.

There are several issues currently out for consultation.

The fire authority is seeking thoughts on the future of the fire service; specifically whether the Wiltshire & Swindon service should merge with Dorset.

Wiltshire Council is seeking your opinion on the future of green waste collections; whether to charge for them or suspend them over the winter period.

Should you need help to find these consultations on-line (or need a paper copy) please contact me.

Also underway is the Governance Review which could see some houses moving from the civil parish of Hilperton into Trowbridge. The parish council has sent its opinion to Wiltshire Council but I must admit to not knowing whether WC will be contacting residents. I shall be putting more info in my next newsletter which should be going for printing in the next week or so.

Individual Electoral Registration (IER) started in England on the 10th June. You should have received a letter from WC about this and, for 99% of residents, no action is needed at this time as you will be automatically moved across to the new register.

The Hillperton Relief Road cannot now be far away. Myself and the WC councillor for Trowbridge Paxcroft division have been asked for our thoughts regarding the variation of a couple of the planning conditions (one of which is raising the speed limit from 40mph to 50mph) whilst the parish council has been approached regarding traffic calming through the village – although only £11,000 is available from Persimmon and this won’t go very far at all.

hEdges is a public art project for Hilperton and Paxcroft Mead. Find out more at www.h-edges.org.uk The project is funded by 'Public Art' Section 106 funds from the housing developments at Blue Hills, south of The Grange and Hackett Place. None of the finance has come from Council Tax.
