WWDC wants more people to 'think green' in 2006.
The authority is in the process of introducing a full kerbside recycling scheme across the district - every town and village should be receiving alternate weekly collections of recycling and non-recyclable rubbish within the next few months.

The next stage of the roll-out is in Westbury and the surrounding area, with new green bins for compostable kitchen and garden waste due to be delivered to households from 23 January. Those properties that are not yet able to recycle glass, cans, paper, textiles and foil from home will also receive a black box.

Alternate weekly collections are already in place in the Melksham, Trowbridge and Warminster areas, and these households can recycle their Christmas trees by leaving them out alongside their green bins for collection.

For those areas that don't yet have green bins, the Council is offering a tree shredding service next week - the sessions will be from 9am to 2pm as follows:

Tuesday 10 January - Station car park, Bradford on Avon.

Wednesday 11 January - Leighton Recreation Centre, Westbury.
