At its meeting yesterday, the Wiltshire & Swindon Fire Authority voted for a small increase in precept.
There has been an 8.74% reduction in the total central government grant (to £851,601) and it is expected that another 20% will be cut over the next three years.
The increase will see a Band D house paying £64.88 a year (an increase from the current £63.62 of £1.26). So, for a Band D property that is under £1.25 a week to fund our fire service - about 18p a day.
Only one fire authority gets a lower grant per head of population than W&SFA and only eight set a lower precept for 2014/15.
