Hilperton Relief Road (HRR) speed limit consultation
A consultation concerning the new HRR (to be named Elizabeth Way) is open for public comment until 5.00pm on Monday the 20th April.
Wiltshire Council highways department wants a 50mph speed limit on the road, but I believe that 40mph should be the maximum speed.
WC is classing the road as ‘single carriageway rural’ and so any objections need to be based on this classification. If you Google ‘setting local speed limits’ you should find the Department for Transport circular 01/2013 at the top of your search findings and this is a useful document to base any objections on.
I feel that the speed limit should be 40mph for the following reasons:
The 40mph speed limit is supported by Hilperton Parish Council and Trowbridge Town Council.
The draft order can be found at http://www.wiltshire.gov.uk/tro-50mph-speed-limit-order-hilperton.pdf
