Household recycling centres (HRC) in Wiltshire are to be cut back by the Conservative WC administration.
From 8th June, each centre will close for two days a week but all will be open on Saturdays, Sundays and Mondays. The closure days will differ from site to site so should you have to use one on a particular day, you will still be able to find one - somewhere.
The HRCs were developed by the district councils as a service to the people they served. But they are now seen by Wiltshire Council as yet another council service to be 'down sized' in order to avoid any increase in council tax ('direct taxation' that is).
The hours of opening, which have already been reduced, will be cut again to just 10am to 4pm. Reallu useful if you work!
The council is not holding one of its infamous 'consultations' (we give our opinion, then WC does as it likes anyway) on the proposal, so there's no point in people complaining.
Just to rub salt into the wound, the cut will come in shortly before the introduction of charging for green waste collection and still WC claims there won't be an increase in fly tipping....
