Ernie Clark. Hilperton Division, Wiltshire Council.

So said an article in The Times yesterday.

The Campaign to Protect Rural England states that developers are hoarding 300,000 sites and delaying the completion of houses to keep prices high.

The CPRE is calling for tighter rules to force companies to build houses more quickly and for local authorities to be able to set strict deadlines for homes to be completed.  It also says that local authorities should be allowed to charge high fees for renewing planning permission when the time limit expires.

It is exactly these actions by developers which, in my opinion, are causing problems for the Wiltshire Core Strategy and putting pressure on the Trowbridge side of the new relief road for housing.
