Wednesday June 17, 2015 Local bus services to end - First Bus news.

The anticipated date for withdrawal of the T1 and 234 routes is 2nd August.

First has been operating the daytime service on the T1 and 234 routes as a commercial venture without financial support (or influence) from Wiltshire Council, but sadly they have now found that it is no longer profitable for them to do so.

They are also struggling to recruit drivers so therefore appear to have decided to concentrate their efforts on providing the services that they operate from Wiltshire into Bath

Wikltshire Council is making every effort to ensure that the Hilperton area (and the parts of Trowbridge served by the T1) continue to have a bus service.

The current state of play is as follows:

-  An emergency  tender has just been issued for a replacement for the southern end of the T1 - WC should know the outcome of that by the end of June.

-  Hilperton, Paxcroft Mead / Castlemead & Leap Gate will be covered by Faresaver X34 - twice an hour on weekdays, but only hourly on Saturdays

-  Future of evening services will depend on cost of the T1 tender.

Further news as I get it.

As I have siad many times in the past 'Use it or lose it'.  If passengers don't fill the seats then the bus companies will move the buses and crews to routes where they make a profit...
