The following reply has been received which may alay some fears.
Q. ..... Also, are the new lights being installed going to be LED? If not, why not? The capital cost is down to Persimmon but the vastly reduced running costs would assist WC.
A. To confirm, all existing lighting at the two roundabouts are to be removed and replaced with new LED lighting. The relief road itself won’t be illuminated but the cycleway will be, again with LED.
However, at the bridleway crossing lighting is installed to improve visibility of users and hazards in the highway. 4 units total will be High Pressure Sodium rather than LED, this is to minimise the effect on ecology at Middle Lane crossing whilst also illuminating the waiting areas.
FYI all units will be dimmed late at night / early morning rather than switched out.
