What many have suspected appears to be true.
Oops. Senior Conservative councillor turns her microphone on by mistake at full council meeting.
I have received the following email from a Hilperton resident.
'Ernie
Very interesting meeting.
What did the Vice Chair Cllr Allison Bucknell , sitting next to the Chairman Cllr Richard Britton mean when she said “these members of the public are being totally duped” the recording of the Council meeting is http://www.wiltshire.public-i.tv/core/portal/webcast_interactive/184335 and you can see the actual clip of her comment if you move the ‘slider’ to 20:15 it runs for about 55 seconds to 21:10.
Clearly the lady was unaware that she had made her microphone ‘live – what did she mean that we have been ‘duped’.
I look forward to ‘clarification’ of the meaning of her comment.
Regards....'
I have sent the following email but no reply has been received! To her credit, the vice Chairman did vote in favour of allowing an extra speaker which is more than some of her colleagues wanted...
'May I apologise to council members if others feel the same way as the vice Chairman about the actions of Cllr. Oldrieve and myself (web cast at 21.07) in her (presumably inadvertent) public statement.
I’m not sure how the members of the public were duped - unless it is was the fact that they were hoping that due cognisance would be paid to their concerns – but I thank the Chairman for allowing the opportunity to address full council even though it would seem that their input was not welcomed by all councillors.'
