The by-election is a result of the resignation of Cllr. Viv Bielecki last month.
Presuming that the election will be contested, the cost to the council tax payers of Hilperton could be in the region of £5,000 as WC no longer covers the cost, but recharges it back to the parish council. However, there are ways in which the cost can be reduced. The election, if required, will be held on or before the 30th December.

As a by-election has been called, the parish council will not have to co-opt anyone thus avoiding the inherent danger of the council being thought to have co-opted the 'wrong' person be it due to age, gender or where they live in the parish.
