The district council hits the number one spot according to The Times.
In The Times published today, there is a table showing which authorities have the biggest Band D council tax increases. Heading that table is West Wiltshire District Council with an increase shown as 5.8%. I'm sure that we would all like to say "Well done" to the Leader (Sarah Content), her finance portfolio holder (Trevor Carbin) and their fellow cabinet members for this appalling feat of financial mis-management!!

Assuming that The Times has got the facts right, this means that we have the privilege of paying THE biggest coucil tax increase outside London!

To be fair, the recent tax bill landing on the doormat showed a lower figure than this and I will try to find out why there are two different figures in circulation. I guess that the old phrase "There are lies, damned lies and statistics" just about sums it up - you can make figures say almost what you want them to.
