The new WWDC administration - one year on.
What has the new administration delivered to us?
Oh what a difference a year makes.
Increased car park fees were targeted as one of the "You don't listen to the people" items. What has happened since? Have the fees been reduced? No! Quite the contrary in fact. Just weeks ago the new cabinet agreed to increase all-day fees and remove the 'free first hour' at a number of car parks.
If another example of 'listening' is needed, then the example of Westbury Leigh, Melksham and the PFI project springs to mind (see other web postings also). WWDC wants to build affordable housing on a number of car parks; some of these appear to be suitable, others, according to resident associations etc. are not. Did the administration at the district council listen to anybody? No, of course they didn't. The result? The Cabinet decision has been called in by the Scrutiny committee to examine the process by which the decision was reached.
I hate to sound condescending, but don't these party politicians realise that these are the sort of actions that make so many people 'swich off' when the local elections come round?
