When I used the WC app to ask for the ditch and verges along the HRR to be cleared, I thought it would be simple enough.
However, as you can see below, it wasn't! You need to start at the bottom and work up for the correct sequence. Needless to say, I have removed the officer names.
Dear Cllr Clark
The limits of adoption have yet to be finally agreed. If the ditches only serve a highway drainage function they will be adopted. The information previously given is the basis on which we normally adopt. Sorry for any confusion.
As regards your concern about the litter, I will pass this to the developer for action.

Having thought about this statement from Mr. **** I am, to be honest, gob smacked. The drainage ditch which takes the run-off from the road to the balancing ponds is 'south' of the cycle path. So is WC saying that this ditch will be allowed to fill with detritus, become blocked, and allow water to flow wherever it wishes to?
This is truly unbelievable.

Dear All
Just to clarify the issue. Elizabeth Way is NOT adopted. It is a public highway maintained by the developer, Persimmon Homes. It will not be adopted until at least 12 months after the opening. Not all of the land between the carriageway and the fence will be adopted. There will be a 2.0m adopted verge on the northern side of the road and on the southern side the limit of adoption will be the southern edge of the footway/cycleway.

Hi,
So it is agreed that the map I was sent was wrong inasmuch as Elizabeth Way is adopted. That being the case, surely the verges, upto the boundary fencing each side, are highway land too.

Hi
Do you know if the developer is responsible for the verges along this road?
It’s not mapped on our system so I’m struggling to find any information.

Dear Cllr Clark,
Church Street Hilperton was closed for gas mains replacement as part of their HSE directive to replace all metallic pipes within 30 meters of business or properties within a 30 year period.
Our records show that Elizabeth Way is adopted highway with a Unique Street Reference Number of 44201233 (although our mapping has not yet been updated) and as such we were able to divert onto it. We actually delayed the gas works as long as we could so that we could use the much shorter diversion route.
Kind Regards

Hi Ernie
I can confirm that the road is currently unadopted – please see below.
Do you remember why Church Street was closed?
Thanks

Hi,
Please explain how this is a developer responsibility. Has WC not adopted the road? If it hasn’t, why did it sign it as a diversion recently for the closure of Church Street, Hilperton? Only adopted roads can be used for diversions....
