A pedestrian crossing for Staverton has moved a little closer.
Negotiations continue between West Wiltshire District Council planners, Wiltshire County Council Highway Dept and the developers (Persimmon) over the design of the B3105 through Staverton when the link road to the Marina is built from it.

Following discussions it seems that there is now agreement on the exact location of the crossing. So that people walking to the schools will have a safe crossing, it will be constructed between the new link road and School Lane junctions. The exact position is important as it would be too dangerous to have the crossing close to the railway bridge.

WCC have agreed to put speed cushions on the new road to serve two purposes. Apart from keeping speeds down, the intention is to discourage any temptation to use the new road as a 'rat-run'.

If the Blacklands scheme goes ahead the actual positioning of the calmimg may have to be adjusted to allow for where any new junctions will be formed.
