Fly tipping?
That will be £400 please.
A man has become the first person in Wiltshire to receive a Fixed Penalty Notice for fly-tipping resulting in a £400 fine.
A Wiltshire Council officer attended Croucheston Drove, in Bishopstone near Salisbury, in March after a report was received that waste had been illegally dumped there.
The officer seized evidence from the waste, which resulted in the man being interviewed under caution. During the interview he admitted that he had illegally deposited the waste.
This is the first Fixed Penalty Notice issued by Wiltshire Council following changes to The Environmental Protection Act 1990 earlier this year which has allowed local authorities in England to issue FPNs for fly-tipping since May 2016. The change provides local authorities with a more efficient and proportionate response to small-scale fly-tipping of waste.
