The price of democracy is sometimes too high...
The full Wiltshire Council has made some bad decisions in the past.
Today, it has exceeded itself.
I spoke in favour of scheme 18 and the parish council sent a representative to speak too.
Contrary to the recommendations of the Community Governance Review working group, council members voted aginst scheme 18 and in favour of scheme 22. The vote was 35 in favour of the scheme, 38 against, with 5 abstentions - incidentally, Cllr. Steve Oldrieve (the Wiltshire Councillor for Trowbridge Paxcroft Division) voted for the transfer to Trowbridge.
This will see everything south of Hilperton Drive as far as Ashton Road (all the houses, the school, the community centre etc.) transferred from Hilperton Parish Council to Trowbridge Town Council.
The various votes on schemes show no consistancy and it will be interesting to see whether the parish council will decide to take this shocking decision to Judicial Review.
