Thursday July 21, 2016 Were the Lib Dems whipped last Tuesday?

It looks suspiciously like they were for the CGR items.

My thanks to the Hilperton (currently) resident for his number crunching on this issue.

'I am now in receipt of voting data from democratic services, and although not conclusive, there are some very strong alliances regarding how the Lib Dems voted. Clearly they are either all of the same mindset, have telepathic powers, or dare I say driven by their party whip. Other parties (although not yet fully analysed in detail) seem to have a far more random return on the voting results.

GROUP 1 –

Paxcroft Mead (Schemes 18 (move only some open space to Trowbridge from Hilperton) or 22 (move 200+ Paxcroft Mead housing to Trowbridge from Hilperton)

All Lib Dems voted against scheme 18 and your amendment to scheme 22 to realign with Leap Gate, with one Lib Dem abstention Cllr Trevor Carbin All Lib Dems voted in favour of scheme 22 moving the housing to Trowbridge with one Lib Dem abstention Cllr Trevor Carbin

GROUP 2 –

Wyke Rd & Hilperton Gap (Town Council scheme 20 and 25 to move land/housing from Hilperton)

This one was the anomaly for the Lib Dems, however the majority of Lib Dems still voted the same including Steve Oldrieve, who I believe is a supporter of the gap action group but was happy to take part of the gap into Trowbridge, Lib Dem Trevor Carbin abstained on both scheme votes again.

GROUP 3 –

Old Farm, West Ashton Rd & White Horse Business Park

Scheme 26 All Lib Dems voted the same

Scheme 27 All Lib Dems voted the same

Scheme 28 All but two Lib Dems voted the same

Scheme 29 All but one Lib Dem voted the same

GROUP 4 –

Shore Place (Scheme 21 Trowbridge) All Lib Dems voted the same

GROUP 5 –

Ladydown Farm (Scheme 24 Holt) All but one Lib Dem voted the same '

Several people who have seen these figures have pointed out that Trowbridge Town Council is controlled by the Lib Dems and have suggested that perhaps someone at the town council had called-in the assistance of political colleagues at County Hall. As I have no wish to end up in court defending a defamation case I can do no better than to quote the fictional character Francis Ewan Urquhart from the series House of Cards with his now famous phrase of "You might think that, I couldn't possibly comment".

Anyway, I don't intend to post any more CGR articles for a while as they have rather dominated this site recently.
