'Dear Cllr Clark,
I agree that we need to collect some traffic data to get an accurate indication of the speed and volume of traffic along roads in Hilperton.
We intend to carry out such an exercise on a number of roads in the area to get a fuller picture, however timing is important. In order that the assessment is representative of normal’ conditions, we need to have regard to the following: ?
Surveys should be carried out during a ‘neutral’, or representative, month avoiding main and local holiday periods, local school holidays and half terms, and other abnormal traffic periods ?
The housing development off Leap gate is still being built out – it would be better to wait and ensure that all the traffic generated by those future occupations is on the network ?
There are road closures in place in Bradford on Avon which are affecting journey patterns – we should wait until those closures are removed.
Having regard to all of the above, I anticipate that the surveys will be programmed early in 2017.'
