Your Independent councillor for Hilperton.

My October e-newsletter.

A reminder that the ‘Housing Needs Survey’ (part of the Neighbourhood Development Plan process) will be distributed mid-October with everyone having five weeks to complete it. The NDP team would be happy to hear from volunteers to help speed the distribution. Please contact me for more details.

The A361 closure has been modified since my article last month. It was due to be closed between the ‘rugby club’ roundabout and the Semington village roundabout. The closure started on 26 September 2016 running for one week between 7.00am and 7.00pm. In answer to those who have asked, I have no idea why the work cannot be carried out at night.

Are you one of the many people concerned about speeding in Hilperton? If you are, there is something you can actively do about it. The police do their best but, to be honest, they don't have the resources to keep a check on speeding through Hilperton let alone all the other villages.

However, the local Community Speed Watch team is looking for new volunteers. The time commitment is minimal and is fitted in around your availability. Full training is provided by Wiltshire Police and the next available session is on Saturday 3rd December. If you are interested please get in touch with me and I will arrange for you to be contacted.

The new parliamentary boundaries are now out for consultation with Hilperton due to be included in the new Trowbridge constituency. Quite how the proposed new name came about would be interesting to know. I'm sure that other towns in the constituency won't be over the moon with the suggestion. Would something along the lines of 'West Wiltshire' not be better?
